Well, it's been almost a month since I tried to update the site, apparently there was an upload issue with the hosting company and it took this long to get it fixed

Well judging from the many families on the block that have done a great job decorating their houses so far, I think we should have another contest this year for the "Best Dressed House". Since we still have funds in the account, I think we should also up the prize amounts this year to $50 for third, $75 for second and $100 for first since there are no upcoming events planned.

Well, the results are in for the "Best Dressed House" of the 2007 holiday season with house #6 receiving the $50.00 prize, house #9 receiving the $35.00 prize and house #3 receiving the $20.00 prize. Congratulations to all the winners as well as everyone who took the time to make our block stand out during this holiday season. Best wishes for the new year.

I will be taking photos on December 24 (Christmas eve) between 8 PM and 11PM so be sure to have everything done by then and have them lit. If you decorated your house but the lights are off, no photo will be taken. I will get the photos up on the site as soon as possible so you can vote.
Just as in past years, please be sure to include your family name and house number when submitting your vote. Only valid votes will be tallied. Winners will be announced on the page that you will be taken to when you click on the "Vote for the best dressed house on the block" link on the Christmas Events page.

I'm going to try to have Christmas "Best Dressed House" contest again this year with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. I will be sending out a flyer with the contest rules and dates. On the 23rd I will be taking photos of the houses on the block and posting them to the site for your review. You will be able to vote and from those votes, I will determine the 3 best. We will be voting on the 3 best houses with the prizes being given out sometime during the first week of the new year. Please include your name and house address when submitting your vote. Only votes from valid house addresses will be tallied.

Well, we survived the blizzard of 2006 and summer is just around the corner. If anyone has any ideas that will provide a festive time for our block as in a birthday party for some distinguished member(s) of our neighborhood, a sweet-sixteen party, a birthday party, an anniversary, or any other event that will entice the block into a gathering, please let me know so I can post an announcement and send out emails to alert the rest of the neighbors. Everyone is enticed by the mention of a party, there is no reason why this year can't rise above the events of past years. All suggestions will be considered and taken under consideration by the block association for a blow-out party, yeah! It doesn't have to be large, it doesn't have to be small, it just has to be a party.

An idea was presented to me to have a contest during the holiday season for the "Best Dressed House" on the block. I thought this was a great idea and took the liberty of snapping photos of the houses on the block that have been decorated this year. They can be viewed by going to "Past Events" then click on "Christmas Events" and once on that page, click the link "Block Photos". The link to "Best Dressed House" is currently still under construction. It was also suggested that we offer a prize for the most creatively decorated house. Let me know what your thoughts are via our Comments page.

We wish to acknowledge the passing of the Parks' matriarch. She passed away a day before the party and we feel we all should acknowledge her passing. Mass cards will be appreciated and can be delivered to the Parks family residence.
